FACT:
Every minute, six girls are mutilated.

FGM continues to devastate lives worldwide with over 200 million victims. To put an end to the intolerable suffering, we strongly urge UNESCO to include female genital mutilation on the World Heritage List for protection.

The time to act is now.

"Proposing the female genitalia as a UNESCO World Heritage site is important for visibility of women, women's sexuality, and violations against women's genitalia. It is also significant because it can foster discussions on the extent to which UNESCO World Heritage sites currently relate to the identity of individual states or regions.”

– Professor Teivo Teivainen,
chairman of the Finnish UNESCO committee
